At IAA Transportation 2026, BYD Commercial Vehicles presented the ETT 44, an electric tractor aimed at heavy-duty logistics. The company quotes up to 1,000 horsepower, a 651 kWh Blade Battery and a rated range of up to 600 kilometres. It also showed a charging concept rated at up to 1.5 MW for long-haul operators.
The announcement is broader than one truck. BYD displayed a commercial portfolio spanning light 3.5-tonne vehicles to heavy 44-tonne models. That range signals an ambition to compete in Europe not only with urban electric vans, but across a wider set of transport tasks.
The business case will depend on megawatt charging coverage, usable payload and total cost of ownership. It does not immediately change the everyday rental-car market, but it is a clear signal for corporate mobility and logistics as Chinese manufacturers expand their European presence.
