Ford says it plans to invest $1 billion in a new state-of-the-art paint shop at Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville. The project will replace the existing facility and modernise one of the company’s most important manufacturing operations, with groundbreaking expected by the end of 2026.
The announcement sits inside a wider Kentucky investment package. Ford also points to roughly $2 billion to transform Louisville Assembly Plant for its Universal Electric Vehicle Platform and another roughly $2 billion at Ford Energy Systems in Glendale, where annual energy-storage production is planned at up to 20 gigawatt-hours.
At Louisville Assembly Plant, Ford expects its Fathom electric pickup to launch in 2027. The wider message is that electrification is not only about a new model; it also requires changes to painting, assembly, battery logistics and the energy systems around a factory.
